The attention needed for ordering prescription glasses online

August 07, 2011 By: eyewear Category: Buy Eyeglasses, Prescription Glasses

With the development of internet shopping, buying prescription glasses from the online optical stores has been the great fashion and pleasure for these glasses wearers. With the help of this method to get the prescription glasses, a lot of money as well as the time have been saved and you don’t have to cut your expenditure in order to change a new pair of prescription glasses.

Generally speaking, the most important things to get a suitable prescription glasses is that you must make sure that you have entered the accurate prescription (including the PD value). And here we would like to remind you some mistakes you might make when you enter the prescription for your prescription glasses:

1.Recheck the polarity of the Spherical and Cylindrical values. In most instances, the Spherical and Cylindrical values for your two eyes should be the same polarity, either positive or negative. But if you have made surgery on your eyes before, there will be an exception for the polarity of these entries. Please remember to make sure you have entered the correct polarity for your prescription glasses.

2.Remember that the Cylindrical and Axis value should always appear together. Just as the professional optometrist said that “There is always a Cylindrical value beside an Axis value(That is to say that where there is an Axis value, there should be a Cylindrical value) ” Please remember that if you have either of the Cylindrical or Axis value in your prescription, the other one should be accompanied.

3.Understand the meanings of the specials abbreviation for the prescription used for these prescription glasses. For example, if you found that there are letters “SPH” and “DS’ listed in the prescription form, it means that there is no correction needed in the corresponding entry and you may just enter “0” in the order form.

4.Pay attention to the Add values. If you want to order multifocal (bifocal or progressive) prescription glasses, please make sure that the Add values entered in the order form should be the same. Sometimes the doctor will describe two different Add numbers in the script which might be stand for the Add values used for the bifocal and progressive prescription glasses respectively. For example, if there are +2.25, +2.50 two numbers listed, the +2.25 might be the Add values used for bifocal while the +2.50 is for progressive use.

It is worth to mention that if the handwriting of your eye doctor is not clear, you should contact him/her without hesitation to clarify it since once you have entered the wrong prescription, the prescription glasses you ordered might not work for you.
